Doubling down on success

Doubling down on success

Pandu S, Medak, Telangana

Problem

  • Unpredictable weather and erratic rainfall
  • Rising input costs and pest challenges
  • Low and inconsistent profits from open-field farming

Result: Hard work with uncertain returns.

Crops

English cucumber | Spinach | Broccoli

Field area: 800 sq. m.

The turning point

In 2023, Pandu decided to change his farming trajectory. After years of unstable yields and rising costs, he adopted two units of Greenhouse-in-a-Box of 400 sq. m. each.

The journey

Across five crop cycles in each greenhouse, Pandu proved the power of protected cultivation.
In Greenhouse 1, he earned ₹63,500, ₹42,400, ₹42,500, ₹81,000, and ₹52,000, respectively. In Greenhouse 2, he earned ₹64,900, ₹41,400, ₹46,000, ₹81,000, and ₹55,000 from the same sequence of crops.
Together, his total earnings exceeded ₹6.7 lakhs, marking a major shift from uncertainty to profitability.
Inside the Kheyti Greenhouses, his crops thrived. They were protected from Telangana’s harsh summers and erratic rainfall. With guidance from the Kheyti team, Pandu mastered drip irrigation, pest management, and market planning, ensuring consistent yields and reduced input costs.
