Turning desert into a harvest

Turning desert into a harvest

Rampal Choudary, Rajasthan

Problem

  • Scorching heat and water scarcity
  • Frequent crop failures in open fields
  • High dependency on rainfall and weather conditions

Result: Hard work, low yields, and little profit.

Crops

English cucumber

Field area: 400 sq. m.

The turning point

In 2024, Rampal Choudary opted for the Kheyti Greenhouse-in-a-Box. With support and training from the Kheyti team, he learned to manage irrigation, maintain temperature, and plan crops for better market timing.

The journey

For his first crop cycle, Rampal chose English cucumber, a high-demand vegetable suited for greenhouse cultivation.
The results exceeded all expectations as he earned a net profit of ₹56,000 in just one season, far more than any open-field harvest before.
Inside the greenhouse, his plants were protected from extreme heat and pest attacks. The drip irrigation system minimised water usage, while the controlled environment ensured consistent, high-quality produce.
This success not only gave him financial stability but also renewed his confidence. With newfound control over his crops, he is now planning to expand cultivation and invest in additional greenhouses.
